Mechanical cell lysis method includes high shear mixing, sonication, freeze or thaw cycles, traditional homogenization, grinding, and high pressure homogenization whereas, chemical lysis method comprises of osmotic lysis, and the use of detergents, chelating agents, and chaotropic agents.
