Color’s New DNA Test Kit Can Identify Inherited Heart Conditions
New DNA testing kit by Color can identify inherited heart conditions, according to a report published on March 20, 2018.
Color’s DNA tests for cancer was very successful and now, they have come up with DNA test kit for inherited health conditions. Predispositions to various inherited heart conditions can be detected using this kit. Mutations in 30 genes, which are responsible for the structure, function, and rhythm of heart are analyzed to detect inherited heat conditions. According to Color, heart conditions aren’t that common, however, one in 200 people suffer from the same.
The genes that were identified as medically actionable by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics were used in the tests that were conducted using the kit. By using this test kit, people can take necessary precautionary measures and avoid the occurrence of stroke or heart attack. Heart rhythm abnormalities, cholesterol levels or plaque build-up can be tested by their doctors. If genetic mutations are found in people, their kids also should undergo medical testing to be on the safer side. Scott Topper, VP of clinical operations said, “We’ve put a good deal of effort on the back-end informatics side to make sure our systems are very developed and robust,”
This testing kit is available for purchase at a price of US$ 249. This development is expected to increase the growth of global cardiac POC testing devices market, as elaborated in the global cardiac POC testing devices market report published by Coherent Market Insights.
