Cyber Security Company in Ukraine Warns People of New Cyber Virus Attacks
ISPP, a renowned cyber security company based in Ukraine, stated on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, that it has possibly detected and new and unique computer virus distribution campaign. The cyber security service provider mentioned that Ukraine is at high risk of facing cyber-attacks that seem similar to the one that knocked out and destroyed universal systems in June. The cyber-attack which took place on June 27, 2017, commonly known as NotPetya, knocked out several government suppliers, operations, and agencies in Ukraine and other eastern European regions.
ISPP cautioned that, like NotPetya, the new and unique cyber malware is predicted to enter the accounting software and could be intending to crash the network while Ukraine is busy celebrating its Independence Day on Thursday, August 24, 2017. ISPP also mentioned that, “this can also be considered as an indicator hinting a gigantic and perilous virus attack preparation to stay safe before National Holidays begin in Ukraine.
On the other hand, the Cyber police in Ukraine said in a statement that just like ISPP, they had also identified a new and unique malicious software that could potentially damage the systems. However, the event is in no way, linked to the universal cyber-attack that occurred on June 27, 2017, they confirmed that the situation is completely under control at present.
The Defence Council and the Cyber Police in Ukraine have stated that the state is at high risk of being targeted with a virus attack which could potentially resemble NotPetya virus. The virus attack has the capacity to destabilize the nation as the country rejoices its 1991 Independence Day form the Soviet Union. On Friday, August 19, 2017, the central bank mentioned that it had strictly cautioned private and state-owned lenders and creditors about the occurrence of new malware that could spread if the owner opened the email attachments with word format. Ukraine has been facing a tough battle as it turns scopes of protection into a well-planned nationwide strategy to safeguard systematic companies and state institutions safe from cyber-attacks.
