Daimler to Launches Electric School Bus in the U.S
Daimler, German automaker revealed first all-electric school bus manufactured by North American Thomas Built Buses subsidiary.
The Saf-T-Liner C2, which is also named as ‘Jouley’ is set to hit the U.S. roads in 2019. The Saf-T-Liner C2 Electric Bus or Jouley has capacity to drive up to 81 kids to school all over the America. The battery power is 100 to 160 kWh, which enables a 160 kilometers of range. However, additional battery modules can increase the range up to several kilometers.
The bus is operate by PowerSuite vehicle control software and PowerTracker telematics and diagnostics system. This system monitors location of bus along with vehicle condition in real-time. Initially, the bus will be limited in production to check the efficiency of vehicle. Furthermore, various bus manufacturers are working on production of electric automobiles. Buses developed by Thomas Built accounted for 38.7% of market share in the US in recent past.
