Exports Hit High Records – UK to Gain Its First Natural Gas Delivery from the US

UK to Gain Its First Natural Gas Delivery from the US

The U.K. is all set to obtain its very first natural gas delivery from the U.S. in the next few days, analysis from ICIS revealed on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. People would get a glimpse of the introductory cargo filled with liquefied natural gas (LNG), comes from the U.S. on the very day U.K.’s gas export to the primary European mainland was recorded at its peak.

The fluctuating demand and supply of the gas flow in UK has taken place within weeks after the country conducted permanent closure of its highly essential storage facility. Due to this, the energy companies and utilities in UK are altering the way they store and source their gas.

On Wednesday, delivery of wholesale gas priced up to 37.1p/th, as per the data derived by the ICIS. The price was 2.1p/th lesser that the price on the European mainland thus offering a visible incentive for all the gas companies to export the gas.

According to ICIS analysis based on the shipping routes of LNG, it is predicted that the Maran Gas Mystras container should be arriving at Kent’s Isle on July 8, 2017. The vessel carries 1,045Wh of gas.

Wednesday will also disclose an interconnector pipeline running from Norfolk, Bacton to Zeebrugge in Belgium and exporting as much as 647GWh of gas. It will beat its own previous record of exporting 644GWh of gas to the European mainland on April 8, 2011.

The Maran Gas Mystras can carry sufficient natural gas to supply it to roughly 50 percent of the overall national demand for gas on Wednesday. Gas export via interconnectors are approximately one third part of the national demand. Gas companies are suggested to save their summer supply for using it during winters when the demand is high.
