Google to Launch Redesigned Gmail on the Web
Google plans to redesign web version of Gmail, according to a report published on April 12, 2018.
The company has been working on redesigning Gmail and customers of G Suite were the first to know about it. An email was sent out to G Suite Administrators, which mentioned that new design of Gmail will have new features and it will be available to regular Gmail accounts as well.
One of the major advantages for the users is that by using the new feature called as Smart Reply on the web, users can snooze emails. Also, as the company is moving all the Chrome apps to the web, native offline support for Gmail will be introduced by Google. Google will remove the Gmail Offline Chrome app once the new feature is introduced, however, no timeline has been set by them.
Gmail’s separate inbox app was redesigned in 2014 and since then Google has not made any changes to the app. The redesigned version of Gmail will be available in the coming weeks for G Suite customers and personal accounts of Gmail. Google will be testing critical Chrome extensions to ensure that the new Gmail experience is compatible before it is available for users across the globe.
Google spokesperson said, “We’re working on some major updates to Gmail (they’re still in draft phase). We need a bit more time to compose ourselves, so can’t share anything yet—archive this for now, and we’ll let you know when it’s time to hit send.”
