Humanoid Robot Mocks Elon Musk

Humanoid Robot Mocks Elon Musk

The first humanoid robot to receive citizenship of a country, has revolutionized the potential of artificial intelligence (AI), creating hope amongst some and fear amongst others.

Sophia —a humanoid robot developed by a Hong Kong-based company, Hanson Robotics— was first activated on April 19, 2015 with the aim to work with humans by learning and adapting to human behavior. This life-like robot has been interviewed around the world, ever since and received citizenship of Saudi Arabia at the Future Investment Initiative, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in October, 2017.

Sophia is designed to appear human-like with a flesh-colored body. However, its exposed plastic skull doesn’t quite match its resemblance with humans.

This 14-inch tall robot has the ability to emote, making over 50 facial expressions and can grasp the flow of a discussion by retaining bits of conversation, subsequently producing answers in real-time.

Sophia was interviewed by co-anchor of CNBC —Andrew Sorkin, during which it spoke about itself. During the live demo, the humanoid robot reportedly remarked “You’ve been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies. Don’t worry, if you’re nice to me, I’ll be nice to you. Treat me as a smart input output system.” This was a reply to the host’s comment “we all want to prevent a bad future.”

Musk has time and again warned humans about the destruction AI could cause on human existence, saying it could potentially be more dangerous than nukes, and more likely being the reason for the third world war.

In response to Sophia’s troll on Elon, he tweeted on October 26, 2017, “Just feed it The Godfather movies as input. What’s the worst that could happen?”

This robot is foreseen to have an IQ of 10,000 in 30 years, according to SoftBank billionaire, Masayoshi Son. These computers will be able to read and see by themselves, which although looms a scary future, is evident to occur in due course of time.
