Microsoft Introduces ‘Mixed Reality’ in Windows 10 Update
Microsoft is all set to update its popular and leading operating system in October next month. This will help the previous generation of Windows 10 software and hardware devices to tap into the virtual and amplified reality technology, said the executives of Microsoft on September 1, 2017. The new software upgrade is also the fourth update of Microsoft Windows. It is going to be available starting from October 17, 2017 specifically for customers already using Windows 10 which is currently running on approximately 500 million systems or possibly more, the tech giant said. Microsoft has also declared plans by its virtual reality headset and computer makers of introducing new and advanced hardware for consumers, video gamers, and businesses to thoroughly benefit from its alleged “mixed reality” features when it releases the software in October.
Terry Myerson, executive vice president and in charge of Windows at Microsoft mentioned in a speech delivered at the IFA consumer electronics fair held in Berlin that, “We are allowing you to indulge yourself in a new and augmented reality- mixed reality.” Mixed reality is a short yet precise term Microsoft is using to define software that engulfs both virtual and augmented reality. The new augmented reality is meant to accurately overlays videos, graphics, sounds, and texts on real-world images that the viewers are able to see on their screens, while virtual reality is meant for creating completely computer-generated worlds.
The fictional multimedia content can conveniently be viewed on desktops, tablets, smartphones, TV displays, and other screens. In case of virtual reality, the content can be viewed on dedicated goggles. Microsoft is planning to focus on these features initially at advanced video game players that use VR headsets followed by business applications, quoted the company officials.
