Toshiba to Launch Windows-Powered Smart Glasses
Toshiba to launch smart glasses powered by Windows, according to a report published on March 12, 2018.
These glasses can be considered as a more powerful pair of Google glasses, which are attached to one of Toshiba’s dynaEdge Mini PCs. They are handheld, battery powered bricks shrunken from Windows laptops. The system is made useful by integrating a new AR100 Head Mounted Display. The weight of headset, which can be worn over an existing pair of glasses, is three ounces. The integrated micro-display is an important feature of this smart eyewear. The micro-display gives the feel of a five-inch mobile screen to the user. GPS, a head tracking accelerometer, a 5 megapixel camera, and a tiny touchpad are the other features of the headset.
A custom interface was created by Toshiba to control the headset. The main purpose of this headset is that industrial users can wear it to view equipment schematics. PDF files can be easily accessed using the touchpad. A cable will always be trailing along with the headset. Apart from the standard model, headset attached to safety goggles, a construction helmet, and a headstrap is delivered by Toshiba. The price of this AR100 Head Mounted Display system starts at US$ 1,899 for the glasses and a DynaEdge system with a Core M processor. It can be upgraded to faster processes as well.
