Whatsapp to Create New App for iPad Users

Whatsapp—the Facebook owned messaging application, is planning to create a standalone application for its iPad users, according to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks changes made by Whatsapp.

In November 2017, WABetainfo tweeted “Great news for all WhatsApp users having an iPad device. Our rumour about a WhatsApp for iPad app was real (real like our other rumours as WhatsApp Business and the Facebook infrastructure)”

The site also stated that WhatsApp Desktop 0.2.6968 app is a reference for an iPad application. Although, it has been confirmed that a new application is in progress, the website has not revealed whether the company is planning on launching a standalone application or is simply a client application, similar to Whatsapp Web.

Whatsapp is constantly upgrading its features and making it compatible for users operating through various devices. It has recently introduced the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature, which allows users to delete a particular message that was sent out to an unintended user or a group. The message will be deleted from the history of both, the sender and receiver, only if done within 7 mins of sending it. The application also confirmed that group voice calls are its latest feature for the beta version of the app. ‘Live location’ and ‘colorful emoticons’ are the expected new features users are awaiting. Another feature that is expected to be launched by the app is that of ‘Whatsapp Pay’, which would enable users to send and receive money within the app on UPI service.

The new version of the app is expected to increase device compatibility and user convenience for iPad users, expecting to upgrade the application more in the near future.
