Apple Now Completely Runs on Renewable Energy
Apple has completely started functioning using renewable energy, according to a report published on April 9, 2018.
Various parts of Apple’s operations such as its shops, offices, and data centers that are spread across 43 different countries are included in this achievement of the company. Many other suppliers of the company are also encouraged by this achievement of Apple. Recently, nine more suppliers started using renewable energy for functioning, which adds it up to a total of 23.
Apple has been constantly working to make its production and operations environmentally friendly. One of the operations include the construction of the new Apple Park campus that has solar panels all the way around its huge roof to ensure that the giant donut-shaped complex is fully green. Similar projects have been introduced around the world by Apple, which includes the wind and solar projects that were built to counteract the emissions caused by industries in China. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said, “We’re committed to leaving the world better than we found it. After years of hard work we’re proud to have reached this significant milestone.”
He also told that the efforts to improve the operation of the company will continue by pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the materials in our products, the way we recycle them, our facilities and our work with suppliers. To establish new creative and forward looking sources of renewable energy, such steps have to be taken. In 2014, Apple had announced that all of its data centers will run on renewable energy and they were able to keep up their word even when new data centers were built. Similarly, they have developed on their environmental work, as it has encouraged many suppliers to use renewable energy and at present, 23 of them are committed to working on green power.
