Artificial Intelligence Now Allows for Creation of Fake Videos
Artificial Intelligence has given science and technology a new direction as well as a new directive towards progress. The scientists in Oxford University have proved that Artificial Intelligence can be used to develop applications that can bring about ease in the day to day life of humans. In the recent research published on May 19, 2017, the scientists have developed a system with ultramodern Artificial Intelligence that can create fake videos.
This system processes on facial images and an audio input to manipulate the image using facial algorithms and give out fake videos that have the faces moving in sync with the audio.
The application that is in the process of development with the help of this system is one that can redub videos without the viewers knowing it. The system can design the videos such that the same video can serve for many different languages.
However, the application development is still in the first stage and needs more finesse in the video outputs, as for now only still pictures with individuals can be processed so that the system can animate the mouth of the individual in order with the audio.
A drawback of the new system as cited by the scientists is that it can manipulate any images and audios to produce videos that can prove to be dangerous if they become viral and create controversies. Hence, the system needs to be used carefully and should not be allowed fall into wrong hands. The system can be brought to best use in modern day news channels where no artificial dubbing would be required for international and regional news of different languages.
According to Joon Son Chung, “The new method can be used for redubbing animated movies and that the application we’re thinking of is about redubbing videos into another language.” The development of the AI system is thus anticipated to revolutionize the sectors of lingual dubbing of movies and videos.
