Electrical Transport – Another Concept Release by Elon Musk’s Boring Company
The Boring Company, owned by Elon Musk unveiled a revolutionary design and concept pictures of an electric transportation vehicle on May 25, 2017. True to his penchant for out-of-the-box ideas, the newly-launched concept pictures and videos include a transport cabin made of glass atop one of the electrical skates meant to travel in the tunnels.
The concept of this electric transport vehicle promotes the use of tunnels which Musk claims are a necessary thing in most US cities, especially Los Angeles. He suggests that his companies may reduce the costs for digging tunnels by building special boring machines that need not be stopped for building tunnel walls.
The concept video is seen to have several people standing or sitting in the glass cabin in the electrical transportation vehicle which resembles a mini bus. Musk had mentioned earlier the possibility of Tesla being interested in making a high passenger density urban transportation vehicle, like a bus. He later stated in a recent talk that a bus could be superfluous if Tesla continued with its idea of an autonomous ride sharing business. However, the recent release of Boring’s new-age transportation vehicle pictures suggest that Musk is still sticking with his original idea.
The concept pictures released were without any description which suggests that the concept is still in its nascent stage. The abstractness of the pictures seems to imply that practical implementation of the electrical transport mini bus that uses the electrical skateboards is still a long way off. However, the picture is quite descriptive about his plans on how the transport vehicle system is meant to be built. The mini bus features a plain glass cabin without fancy interiors. The lack of any type of seating arrangement suggests high passenger density as a feature of the electric transport vehicle. Boring’s latest concept looks to revolutionize modern travel with a spacious elevator that works in the underground tunnels to transport a large number of people quickly and easily.
