Google to Reveal Technical Details of Titan Security Chip to upsurge Cloud Service Marketing
According to the reports published on August 23, 2017, Alphabet Inc’s search engine giant Google has decided to reveal certain technical aspects and elements of its newly developed Titan computer chip this week. This computer chip is a precise security feature especially for Google’s cloud computing network. The company is hoping that this feature will allow it to win the race against Microsoft Corp and Amazon.com Inc. the size of Titan is that of a small stud earing which is installed in numerous network cards and computer servers by Google populating its huge data centers and powering Google’s cloud services.
Google hopes and assumes that Titan will help the company in carving out a larger fraction of the universal cloud computing marketplace, which according to Gartner, has the market values of approximately US$ 50 billion at present. A spokeswoman from Google stated that the company is planning to reveal the technical details about Titan in an informational blog post which is due to be published over the web on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Titan functions by scanning the hardware to make sure it has not been fiddled with, said Neal Mueller- Google Cloud Platform’s head of infrastructure product marketing. If any changes are noticed, Titan chip shall stop and prevent the computer system from booting.
Data center operators seem to be bothered and worried that nation-state hackers or cyber criminals could possibly compromise their servers, mostly created by Asian hardware firms, before they even enter the United States. Mueller mentioned that, “it enables us to uphold better level of cooperation and understanding in our major supply chain that we would lack otherwise.”
As per the information disclosed by Synergy Research Group, neither Microsoft not Amazon.com- which have 13 percent and 41 percent of shares in the cloud market respectively, have confirmed about having similar features. While responding to the inquiries, representatives from Microsoft and Amazon highlighted several ways they make use of encryption as well as some other measures to safeguard all their data centers.
