No More Traffic Distress – Google Rolls out an Update on Its Maps to Save Time
Google has cleverly rolled out a useful update to its Maps application on 14th July 2017. The application focuses squarely on daily commuters who are looking to save time and are troubled by the traffic woes. As you open the hoe screen of the application, you will find a new information box popping up. This box will allow the users to access mainly three tabs: transit, driving, and places. The motive is to ensure that this Google application stays a reliable and handy source for android users, even for people who are already aware of where they are heading to and only need information about how much time it is going to take for them to reach there.
The driving tab on the home screen shows the exact travel time the person will take to reach to the desired destination provided the user has saved his or her address already. Further, the app will also inform the user about the traffic conditions around the place as well as the delays they can expect while being on a specific route. The person shall not require turn by turn navigation directions to reach a destination. If the person is already aware of the route, he can just tap or click on “start driving,” and he will get accurate updates on the real time traffic status for that particular route.
The “places” tab has a list of cafes, bars, restaurants, ATMs, gas stations, grocery shops, malls, pharmacies, and other places near and around a chosen location. The updated version of this Maps application is currently launched and available in the United States and UK. There is no information from Google about when this app will be updated for iOS. The application update is developed to help users reach their destination, how long it will take to reach, and the best time to start the travel.
