Researchers Developed New Mechanism to Prevent Allergic Reactions
Researchers revealed a new mechanism that can prevent allergic reactions, according to a study conducted on January 25, 2018.
In this new mechanism, an antibody is used in preventing allergic reactions in many patients. The immune effect which causes the allergic reactions are blocked by this antibody. Molecular structure and the function of the antibody was described by the researchers and the results were surprising. They were investigating on new methods for improving the existing treatments, however, they ended up in identifying a particular antibody, which has the potential to inactivate the allergic processes. Interaction of this antibody is in a complex biochemical process in the human body and this helps in the prevention of attachment of human allergy antibody (IgE) to the cells. Allergy symptoms are kept away by this method.
When a person is allergic, high levels of IgE is produced by the person when exposed to the external allergens. Histamine is produced when these molecules starts circulating in the blood and comes in contact with the effector cells of the immune system. Once the histamine is produced, body experiences an allergic reaction immediately. The binding of IgE to the effector cells is interfered by the antibody and it becomes impossible for the allergy molecules to bind. It was observed that this antibody can remove the IgE molecules even if they were bound to the receptors.
Using blood cells of patients who are allergic to birch pollen and insect venom, experiments were conducted by the researchers. According to the researchers, this method can be used for all other allergies. This antibody can be inhaled or swallowed and need not be injected into the body.
This will be more cheap, easy and comfortable for the patients. Before starting with the production of this new allergy medicine, clinical trials are yet to be conducted to study about the effect and safety of these medicines. This study could be a huge breakthrough for the development of an effective medicine for allergy. Therefore, it will increase the growth of allergy diagnostic and treatment market, as elaborated in the allergy diagnostic and treatment market report published by Coherent Market Insights.
